QuickAnswer is a registration-based SMS service that allows verified users to send questions by text message and receive concise automated replies. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Service processes, why it is processed, and how it is protected.
Information the Service processes
The Service may process the user's email address and account identifier; verified telephone number; SMS message content and generated responses; messaging metadata such as message identifiers, destination and origination numbers, timestamps, delivery information, and processing status; subscription status if paid plans are later offered; and limited diagnostic information needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service.
The Service is not intended to collect sensitive personal information. Do not send passwords, authentication codes, financial account information, medical records, government identification numbers, or other highly sensitive information by SMS.
How information is used
- Authenticate the authorized user; receive, process, and answer SMS requests; and deliver responses and service notices.
- Prevent duplicate processing, abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access.
- Monitor reliability, investigate failures, maintain security, and comply with applicable law and telecommunications requirements.
The Service does not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or share it with data brokers.
Service providers
Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides account authentication, email verification, SMS delivery, queues, serverless computing, databases, logging, secrets storage, and related cloud infrastructure. OpenAI processes the text of questions and related conversation context through its official API to generate answers after the SMS proof-of-concept gate is complete. Mobile carriers and satellite-network providers transmit SMS messages between the user's device and the Service. A payment provider may process billing details if paid plans are later offered; QuickAnswer will not directly store card numbers. These providers may process information according to their own terms and privacy policies, including in the United States or other locations where they operate.
Data minimization and retention
Full questions and responses are not intentionally written to application logs by default. Telephone numbers in operational logs are masked or hashed where practical. Version 0.7.1 sends each question to Microsoft Azure OpenAI as a single-turn request and requests that provider-side response storage be disabled. For weather, news, prices, schedules, laws, local information, and other current facts, the request may use Microsoft Grounding with Bing Search. Message identifiers and limited operational records may be retained temporarily to prevent duplicate replies, diagnose failures, and secure the Service.
Information is deleted or allowed to expire when it is no longer reasonably needed for these purposes, subject to provider retention and legal requirements. SMS messages may also remain on the user's device and within carrier, satellite-provider, AWS, or OpenAI systems according to those providers' policies and configurations.
Security and messaging choices
The Service uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including an allowlisted telephone number, restricted AWS permissions, encryption capabilities provided by service providers, protected credential storage, and limited logging. No internet or telecommunications system is completely secure, and SMS should not be treated as a confidential channel for highly sensitive information.
This Service is available only to verified, registered users and does not send advertising or marketing messages. Users initiate conversations by texting the Service. Message frequency varies according to use and plan limits. Message and data rates may apply. Text STOP to stop automated SMS replies. Text START or UNSTOP to restore them where supported by the carrier. Text HELP for a brief service and command reference.
Disclosure, children, and changes
Information may be disclosed if reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of the operator, the authorized user, the Service, or others. The Service is not directed to children under 13 and is not intended to collect personal information from children. This policy may be updated when the Service or its providers change; the effective date will be revised when material changes are published.
